How long have you been a member of the Patient Access Collaborative?:  3 years

What do you like about being a member?: The collaboration and expertise shared with other organizations that are either on the same journey or at different milestones, always great to learn from others and really feels like we have deepened our bench of resources and support.

How has your career benefited from being a member?: This is my first executive position in not only in a 100% ambulatory care setting, but at an academic institution. Therefore, have met great mentors and leaders that I have been able to ask questions or get lessons learned from others to guide me and the organization.

What tips or advice would you give new members?: Be willing to share experiences, structures, tools and they will be shared back two-fold. Get to know individuals and organizations and the opportunity is endless.

What do you love most about your job?: Building a legacy at MSU Health Care through our new vision of expanding health care services as well as communities we serve. Creating an environment where individuals are proud to work and take ownership.

What meaningful project are you working on right now?: Employee survey tool and structure to allow for the voice of our employees to guide our improvements and focus as well as build ownership and transparency of where we have opportunities. Also doing an EMR refresh to improve our system that wasn't built to best practice 7 years ago and has caused many challenges on the clinician end of delivering care.

What career advice do you live by?: Always being transparent because Transparency = Trust and Trust builds Respect!.

Where are you from?  Where did you go to school?: From Michigan, Nursing is my second career as I started out in Accounting, moved into Nursing school at local Lansing Community College, then received my Bachelors and two Masters Degrees while working at local hospital for over 16 years. Received BSN, MSN, MHA from University of Phoenix.

What are your hobbies?: Snowmobiling, Lake House time with family and friends and just enjoying my Granddaughters.

Where is your favorite place you've travelled?: Caribbean and our Lake House :)

What’s a fun fact that people probably don’t know about you?: I use to do auto mechanics and construction work.

Who inspires you and why?: Sue Tetloff and Jane McLeod from Capstone Leadership Solutions. They are two individuals who have been instrumental in my leadership growth and skill. They are the most influential leaders I have met in health care and give 150% to everyone they meet.
