Tim Bliss & DogHow long have you been a member of the Patient Access Collaborative?:  4 years       

What do you like about being a member?: The spirit of cooperation and helpfulness.

How has your career benefited from being a member?: The benchmarking data allows me to provide guardrails for senior leadership when evaluating budget and patient experience goals.

What tips or advice would you give new members?: I have been struck by how willing people in this community are to break out of email and engage in sidebar best practice discussions. Don't be reluctant to reach out to members and set up a conversation.

What do you love most about your job?: Our community of kindness.

What meaningful project are you working on right now?: We're implementing Decision Trees in Epic and trying to eliminate unnecessary barriers to scheduling appointments.

What career advice do you live by?: All people want to do well at their job. If people understand and support the mission, they will drive performance in ways that far outpace a do-it-or-else approach. Catch them doing it right, and shout it from the rooftops!

Where are you from?  Where did you go to school?: I grew up outside of Providence RI. I went to Emory University in Atlanta GA, and I currently live in Merrimack, NH.

What are your hobbies?: Bird watching, guitar

Where is your favorite place you've traveled?: New Orleans

What’s a fun fact that people probably don’t know about you?: I earned a 0.00 GPA my freshman year at Emory. 

Who inspires you and why?: Willie Nelson, because he works hard to bring joy to as many people in life as he can.
