Rationale: A new role of capacity management to support the ambulatory enterprise is emerging in health systems - and we want to help. The Patient Access Collaborative has been engaged in ambulatory capacity management for more than a decade - our mission is to transfer our knowledge about this important topic to you. The Patient Access Collaborative is certified by the International Accreditors for Continuing Education and Training.
Audience: Persons who are active in the field of ambulatory capacity management - or those who may be interested in a role in the field. Applicable for experienced personnel who want to ensure a breadth and depth of knowledge in the field. Those who are new to the field benefit as well. No specific expertise or experience is necessary, however, familiarity with ambulatory operations and template management may aid in learning.
Curriculum: System-agnostic education about ambulatory capacity management to include an overview of the field, capacity management metrics, benefits and drawbacks of centralization, fundamentals of template design, organizational structures of capacity management teams, and optimization strategies. May be considered as a supplement to technical training to understand the driving principles and qualitative side of capacity management.
Content Delivery:
- Five to seven* hours of asynchronous audiovisual education delivered virtually to be viewed at the learner's convenience
- Accompanying knowledge tests for each required module
- Companion case study for learner with supplemental office hours
- Synchronous virtual sessions with experts as guest speakers
- Certificate of completion based on participation and achieving 70% or more on tests and case study

Total Time: An estimated 10-15 total hours of education and simulated learning experience, to be completed at the learner's pace.
